NOTE: Directions are given according to the orientation of the in-game map, which is tilted diagonally so that “North” is pointing up and left, with “South” pointing down and right.

The Starting Villages

If you’re just starting out, you’ll be in one of three villages: Halbol, Shefa, or Maquina. These are large, well-established villages that have the full variety of shops, arenas where you can enter Pal-fighting tournaments, and residences with characters who just might have a request or two to ask of you. Mammoth Busses run between these three villages, so you can safely ride from one village to another for 50 stones per trip. Be sure to explore these villages and talk to everyone – you never know what might happen.

Halbol: The village of Halbol is located between the plains of North Macca and the ocean, about midway along the southeastern coast. Blessed by a temperate climate, Halbol is filled with grass and flowers, and visitors can collect oranges from its famous orange trees to give to their Pals. The Halbol Elder knows about a place in the forest to the north called the Badawal Stumps, but you’ll have to prove your skill and courage before he’ll allow you to venture there. There’s even a fishing pond in this village where you can use different rods and bait to snare the perfect catch!

Maquina: The snowy village of Maquina is located in the north of North Macca. If you choose Maquina as your hometown, you’ll be treated to snowy nights, pine trees, and village ice sculptures. The people of Maquina dress warmly by making clothes out of Pal furs, and enjoy a meal of hot soup to keep their energy up. When the snow piles up, it’s harder to get mail out of the village, so there’s always a need for letter carriers. You’ll find wild Annsero and Pobo Pals on the outskirts of the village, so if Maquina is your home, try making a new friend of one of them to increase the strength of your team.

shefa.jpg

Shefa: The village of Shefa is located along the southwestern coast of North Macca. If you choose Shefa as your hometown, you’ll enjoy easy access to the coastline, where you can find many types of crafting materials and seafood washed up on the shore. The houses are made of stone and often covered with the shells of giant creatures that live in the sea. The people of Shefa have recently had trouble with a thieving dinosaur, and you may be the answer to their problem!

Uncharted Villages

Feeling up for a little exploration? There are villages out there that have never been charted on a map, and no Mammoth Busses go there – your journey will be on foot, through unknown conditions, but the citizens of these towns will always be glad to see an unfamiliar face, and you might find some great items in the shops.

Suna: The rustic village of Suna lies in a mountain canyon where strong winds often blow. You’ll have to journey a little way into the rocky hills to find the village, which some say is located to the northeast of the village of Seafa. You’ll enter from the North, and if your adventurous nature takes hold, you can head south from the village to explore the windswept Suna Valley.

Sabune: Sabune is an icy village located in the northern extremes of North Macca, near the Great Glacier of Nol. It’s a smaller village, and so out of the way that not many make the treacherous journey across the frozen tundra. But if you’re feeling up for some arctic adventures, you can start your journey by heading west (and slightly north) from the village of Maquina.

Lum: The people of Lum decided to make their dwelling off the coast, on the sea itself! How did they manage such a feat with stone-age technology? You might find out if you’re one of the brave adventurers to risk swimming offshore to find the aquatic settlement. To get in the right area, either follow the coastline north from Seafa village, or head southwest (follow the river) from the Nazuth Rocks cave. Where you see the shallower parts of the ocean, try swimming out and see what you can find…

Caves, Forests, and Dungeons - Oh my!

Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to spot an area where adventure lurks while you’re journeying from one place to another. But from talking with the people you meet, you can find out where the true challenges lurk in the prehistoric world of Stone Age 2. If you find yourself walking in circles, swearing you’ve seen that certain rock before, here are a few clues as to where you might want to explore during your travels.

Badawal Stumps: Deep in a forest to the north of Halbol grows a huge tree, and within this tree’s massive trunk is a cavern of wood known as the Badawal Stumps. Once inside, you’ll wind your way down through the inside of the great tree’s roots, into the earth beneath it where strange caverns have been formed. The Pals that live there aren’t so dangerous, but they appear in large numbers that can take unprepared explorers by surprise. Make sure you’re fielding a good team of Pals to hold your own, and you won’t be stumped!

Nazuth Rocks: The Nazuth Rocks are a seaside cave that winds deep underground. Some say that at the bottom is an underground spring with healing properties, but most have never made it that far down – or never come back up. The Pals that populate Nazuth Rocks aren’t pushovers; they have strong defense and take multiple hits to defeat. The best – and safest – way to explore Nazuth Rocks is with one or more friends. Combine your powers – and the strengths of your Pals – to press on deep into the depths of this dungeon!

Namda Heights: Way out in the hills of the countryside to the north of Namda, there is a mysterious cave entrance that is blocked by a giant swath of fire that continues to burn at all times. How are the explorers of the stone age supposed to get in, then? Perhaps applying some water to that fire would soothe the savage flames, but how do you get enough to make the crossing safe? If you find out, you’ll still have to contend with powerful enemies around level 25 if you hope to unlock the secret of this hidden barrow.
